Yesterday around 10:30am I caught Shuttle fever. By 2pm Kevin and I had meet up to shove the bikes in my car (one of my more genius ideas, keep reading...) but before we could head off for the 4:50pm Lift Off at Titusville, we had to go pull a plug on a pool Kevin was working on. Which meant we didn't leave Orlando until 3pm.
After speaking with the News 13 Space Team they told us we could never make the normally 45 minute trip due to traffic. Since we aren't afraid of a challenge we decided to try it anyway.
By 4:25 we were on the outskirts of Titusville. We ditched the car and had 25 minutes to make it to the water front. The 5 mile trip should have been easy, had we not been on beach cruisers, riding next to traffic with heavy wind blowing against us and the pressure of making lift off!
We made it as close to the front as you could get with about 30 seconds before blast-off. If that isn't timing, than I don't know what is!
Riding back to the car on our bikes was where I literally became a genius! We passed everyone in their cars! So satisfying. We went to dinner at a local hotspot, and as we were finishing, we met a group of people who were literally stuck in their cars for 3 hours before getting to the restaurant. I told one lady about the bikes, and her mouth dropped. She proceeded to tell everyone how smart we were.
Mission Success!
